In order to treat gynaecological and women's health issues, endoscopic procedures have recently become popular in India.
The Indian Association of Gynecological Endoscopy (IAGE) surgeons organised the conference for female laparoscopic surgeons and female gynaecologists in collaboration with the Karnataka branch of IAGE and Radhakrishna Multi-specialty Hospital and IVF Centre, Bengaluru, India.
In this setting, 22 live procedures were conducted by 18 female endoscopists from throughout India, highlighting new medical advances that can be used to treat women’s health challenges. The operations took place on Saturday in Bengaluru during the Eve Endoscopy national conference. According to experts, this type of treatment requires a shorter hospital stay, making it a blessing for working women who can’t take time off from their jobs.
From 8 am to 6 pm on Saturday, the Radhakrishna Hospital‘s three operating rooms broadcast live coverage of the procedures performed by the women surgeons. They carried out laparoscopic fertility enhancing treatments, such as ovarian cystectomy, tubal recanalization, and endometriosis, as well as hysterectomy to treat large uterus, frozen pelvis, and other conditions.
“Endoscopic, or minimally invasive, or keyhole, procedures, are the future of surgery. So, the objective of the conference was to educate women gynecologists on the feasibility of these procedures since they offer immense benefits to patients compared to traditional surgeries,” Pal said.
There are roughly 40,000 gynaecologists in the nation, but only a small percentage of them are skilled in performing endoscopies on patients, according to Dr. Bhaskar Pal, president of IAGE.
